Things to Do in Mallorca: Sail the Coast by Catamaran

Mallorca offers countless experiences, but few compare to seeing the island from the sea. Cruising along the coastline by catamaran reveals dramatic cliffs and crystal-clear waters, allowing you to experience the island at a slower, more authentic pace.
If you’re looking for memorable things to do in Mallorca that combine nature, relaxation and local insight, a catamaran experience is an exceptional choice.

Dani & Natasha’s Local Suggestions

Southwest Mallorca is rich in natural beauty and unique experiences. Here are some of our favourite spots to explore by land or sea.

Cala del Mago

Often referred to locally as the “three-finger bay,” this area includes three beautiful beaches: Cala del Mago, Portals Vells and Cala dels Reis. With stunning coastal views, shaded tree area and clear turquoise waters, it’s a favourite with both locals and visitors. Lay your towel on soft sand or natural flat rocks—but don’t be too surprised if you encounter more than expected, as the central beach is also welcome to local nudists!

Sant Elm

Sant Elm is a charming fishing village with postcard-perfect views across to the island of Dragonera. Its small beaches have crystal-clear waters, and the hike up to the La Trapa viewpoint rewards you with breathtaking panoramas of the southwest coast. A top tip: avoid the peak summer heat, as the walk can be challenging in high temperatures.

Cala d’Egos

Cala d’Egos is a stunning pebble beach near Andratx, loved by locals for its peaceful atmosphere. Accessible only by foot or boat, it offers spectacular waters and is an ideal spot for a relaxed picnic. The hike down to the beach is one of our favourites, with beautiful views along the way.

Restaurants

Seafood lovers will enjoy Las Olas in Santa Ponsa, a lovely beachfront restaurant specialising in Mediterranean cuisine. We also highly recommend Mesón Can Pedro in nearby Génova, where traditional Mallorcan dishes are served. You can even cook your own meat to perfection on a hot stone right at your table.
